Power and standby
Smart standby (always on)
Section titled “Smart standby (always on)”With standby off, the device behaves exactly as it always did: full speed while awake, deep sleep after the device timeout.
With standby on, the device stays on instead of powering off. It wakes instantly, keeps its clock (so sessions stay dated and your history works), and the web app can connect at any time. After the screen or light timeout it drops into a low-power profile, with the screen, lights and heater off.
Turn it on
Section titled “Turn it on”| Where | How |
|---|---|
| Web app | The Standby setting in Settings |
| Carta 2 | Menu, then Standby |
| Carta Sport and Aeris | 5 clicks, then hold the 6th press. Two flashes: lime is on, steel is off. |
How it decides how much to save
Section titled “How it decides how much to save”- Battery. The lower the battery, the lighter the standby. Below 20 % it is at its leanest.
- Warm standby. For 30 minutes after a session, and around the hours you usually use it, the radio stays livelier so the app connects faster. This never applies below 20 % battery.
- Learned hours. Each finished session is counted in a 24-hour pattern, so the device relaxes in hours you rarely use it. The hour before a busy hour counts as busy, so it is ready. You can see and reset the pattern in the web app’s History.
- The charger. On USB, battery level is ignored, and plugging in wakes the device.
- A hot chamber. While the chamber is hot, temperature keeps being read so the hot light stays honest.
Nothing in use is ever slowed: a session, an update, dialing a value, or a connected app all keep the device fully awake.
Waking
Section titled “Waking”A raw button press wakes the device immediately, before your gesture has even finished.
Safety
Section titled “Safety”At 5 % battery or less (not on USB) the device powers off completely, even in standby, to protect the cell.
If the device ever resets while in standby, it switches standby off by itself and counts it. The web app shows a notice, “Standby was switched off after a restart”. A rising count is worth telling us about on Discord.
The Aeris
Section titled “The Aeris”The Aeris never lowers its processor speed, because its battery pack’s serial link depends on it. It still lowers its radio and polling rates, but you should not expect the same savings as on the other two.
Low-power mode
Section titled “Low-power mode”Low-power mode caps brightness to save battery.
| Device | How |
